Rain, rain go away!

Such an ugly day! It was definately an unmotivational day.  First, weigh-in day.  I gained 1.2 pounds, which isn't too terrible for a holiday week, but its never fun gaining weight.  Will have to work hard this week and definately work on my self control with the food!

Training day with Eric today.  Was so not in the mood to work out today.  One of those, sit on the couch with a blanket kind of day.  Luckily my appointment with Eric gave me a reason to NOT sit on the couch.  He really likes to kill my legs.  Start off with a mile jaunt on the treadmille, only a speed of 3.0, but at an incline of 15, for 19 minutes (he did increase the speed to 3.5 towards the end, so thats why it didn't take 20 minutes).  Next, it was on to some leg step ups.  I think the platform was like a foot or two off the ground, 25 sets for each leg.  In between legs, I did some situps on a low incline.  Place a medicine ball (6 pounds for the first set, then 10 for the next) in between your knees to lift your knees to your chest, 25 reps of these as well.  We then went to the dreaded stairmaster.  It was not a good experience today.  10 minutes, level 10 and I almost died!
Yup, thats what I looked like.  I thought the rolling hills were going to roll me right off the machine, but I finished it!  We then took the workout to the meaty gym section.  I think they want to be like this:

We did some leg and arm machines as well as some calf raises.  Today he was in the mood for each leg to work on its own, so I did most machines on leg at a time, then he added weight and I did both legs.  Finish up the workout with 10 minutes on the elliptical.

Good workout overall, just a lazy day.  I did get some TV time in with the CW shows from last night.  Always good!  Eric again tomorrow...if I can move!

Deer Monday

Start of deer season, which means its a national holiday in central PA, although, my boss doesn't believe in national holidays, so I worked.  Hope you all shot a deer to eat for the next couple of weeks.

Spinning today, it was a good workout, although Janet had a poor music selection.  Her only saving grace was the fact that she played 'Only Girl' towards the end to keep me going.  Lots of climbing today, not so much running.  I love how fast 45 minutes goes at spinning.

My spinning may have been counter productive however since I went to dinner at TGI Fridays.  Marissa had her tennis banquet (she won best newcomer!!) that was there, so I walked down from the gym.  I did opt for the turkey burger with a salad, but had a pot sticker and a couple bits of dessert.  May be a rough weigh in day tomorrow!

Back to the sweat!

After the long holiday weekend with no workouts and bad eating, I made sure to workout this afternoon.  After a very close steelers game (what the heck were the doing in the third quarter? Decided not to show up apparently), I headed to the gym to sweat out some calories.  Although the parking lot was really empty, the gym was the most crowded its been in a while, at least in the cardio area.  Lot of people trying to burn off their turkey (well, really their mashed potatoes/stuffing calories).  I went with intervals again today.  Workout summary: 40 minutes, 3.39 miles, 455 calories burned.  Good workout and a good start to the week!

Workout schedule for the week; spinning and back-to-back training days with Eric and more spinning

Let the holiday celebration begin! Work Christmas party Friday and Emily's birthday/holiday party on Saturday.  Searching online for a healthy-ish appitizer to make.  Any suggestions??

Thanksgiving Eve

No workout today.  I wanted to go to spinning at 4, but I didn't get out of work until 4 and the gym closed at 5.  Also, Steph was coming home and we had a big family dinner, so the workout will have to wait until Friday.  Turkey day tomorrow!  Enjoy everyone :)

Work da ass (and legs!)

Today was trainer day with Eric.  I think he really enjoys working my legs and butt.  Apparently, that where he thinks I need the most work.

We started the session with 20 minutes, cross country, on the stairmaster at a level 10.  I burned 267 calories according to the machine.  Next we went to the training room.  I started with the kettlebell squats.  I did these till the end of the song playing, so probably like 1-2 minutes. Next I did 50 situps with the medicine ball.  We then moved onto the stability ball.  I layed down with my stomach on the ball, hand on the floor.  I lifted my legs up, out, in, and back down.  25 reps of these.  Then, at the ballet bar (yes, my gym has a ballet bar), I did 100 leg lifts with my right leg.  I did 25 more legs on the ball, and then did my left leg lifts.

We then moved onto the arc machine.  15 minutes on the weight loss setting (I don't remember the level, maybe 10- he likes level 10).  I burned around 200 calories, and my legs were hurting!  For the last 10 minutes, we went back to the training room, where he preyed on some poor woman and made her do situps with me and the medicine ball (50).  We then did 50 obliques with the medicine ball and then laid down on our backs and touched the medicine all to our toes.  To finish it off, I did my favorite exercise (NOT), bosu ball pushups (25).  I finished up with 5 minutes in the sauna to relax my muscles and then did some stretching.

Preparing for turkey day still.  Sparkpeople had a good article today about how to save some calories on the big day.  Good ideas.  Spending the night watching Biggest Loser make-overs.  Love this episode! Always makes me cry when they all start crying when they see their families.

Turkey week!

Went to spinning today with Janet.  Good class.  She played a song today with a good quote.  It was some remix of a song (I don't know what it was) and had a dallas cowboy football player talk in the beginning.  He had a good quote, "at the end of the day, your only looking one person in the mirror and your only cheating yourself.'   Something like that.  I thought it was good, and very true.

I randomly get Women's Health the magazine.  Not sure how, I don't pay for it, but it keeps coming, so thank you for whoever has been paying for that subscription.  Anyways, there was a good article in it that I was reading today about how to stay motivated during the winter months.  Women are 30% less active in winter months, so it was giving suggestions as to how to staying motivated to get to the gym.  Apparently there is a website (http://www.stickk.com/) where you put in your goal and a credit card and if you don't go to the gym or reach your goals, it docs you money and it goes to a charity that you choose.  You can also do your own version of The Biggest Loser with your friends through the website.  Great idea!

I need 90 points to win in fantasy football this week and only have 2 players playing.  Hoping for an offensive shootout! haha

Weekend update

So I've survived the weekend.  Friday night I went on a quick (about 1 mile) walk with Emily.  However, we did get pizza for dinner friday night, so I think that may have counteracted the walk.  Saturday, no formal workout, did do some shopping with the crazies at the mall.  Holiday shopping is one of the best/worst times of the year.  Not too bad quite yet, but it will only get worse from here on out.

Today was my sunday get back into the week workout.  No tennis for Rissy tonight, so I had to drag my ass to the gym myself.  Not as much motivation, but I managed to get there.  I'm really into the intervals right now and did find an article on sparkpeople about it, so I may keep it in the rotation for the time being.  Workout summary (including warmup and cooldown) was 28 minutes, 3.25 miles and 437 calories burned.  I did 2 minutes walking at a 3.5 and 4 minutes running at a 6.5 for the first two or three intervals and then 6.0 for the last two.

I was also domestic today, and made dinner!  I found a curry soup receipe online and made it for the fam.  I also got my holiday issue of People and found a coconut macaron receipe and also made that.  We had a spinach salad as well.  It was all very good, will have to make it again, only not so much.  Big batch! I added too many veggies and had to keep adding broth to actually make it soup as opposed to a pot of veggies.  We'll be eating it for a while!

Turkey week coming up.  Mentally preparing to not overeat starting today!

Just keep spinning, just keep spinning

Spin Day!!!

After not spinning for two years after college, I do not know how I survived.  I LOVE it! My instructor today was Andrea, and I like her, just not as much as Janet.  She also teaches yoga, and you can so tell.  She likes to concentrate on breathing and does a little yoga to end the class.  Pretty good music today, she played a Keith Urban song, so that earns extra points!

I think I have finally gotten back into the spinning groove.  I don't know if I just had a really good class today, or if I'm just getting used to it more now, but I really felt good in class today.  My legs were burning, and the hills were tough, but in a good way.  It was a good workout before the weekend.

I use sparkpeople.com for their diet program, but I also really like their articles.  Heres on about spinning, you should consider taking a class.  Its fun!

Have a good weekend, and try not to eat too much! Thanksgiving is next week, so be extra careful!
