Today was the first day of swim training for the triathalon. I asked ms park for her advice for a swim program. The one she submitted was pretty tough, although we only did about half of it because Kaitlin came to swim with us, and didn't like when we swam laps away from her. Heres what Emily and I did.
4 laps swimming
4 laps kicking
4 laps swimming
4 laps arms (although they didn't have the leg thingy that i could see, so it felt like I was drowning)
4 laps swimming
4 laps kicking
4 laps swimming
We then did a couple of 50 yard sprints and ended with a cool down with the kickboard. We're going again tomorrow (without the baby) so we should be able to up the workout. We'll see how sore I am tomorrow, haven't swum in a long time!

Indoor run
Indoor run today on the treadmill at the gym today. Major problem with the back row of treadmills, something about people moving the plugs around or something that they were trying to figure out. Luckily, there was an open on in the front row that I jumped on before someone else took it. I was afraid if I stayed on one of them in the back that it would suddenly go off while running (which one of the workers did make reference to while laughing...)
Once I got started, the run was pretty good, especially since I haven't run well for a while. 2 minute warm up, 18 minutes of running at a 6.2, 5 minutes walk at a 3.8, 5 minutes running at a 6.2, 5 minutes running at a 5.8, 3 minutes cool down.
Final stat line: 38 minutes, 3.46 miles, 444 calories

The great outdoors
Not a good workout week last week. I did a half hearted run last Sunday, kickboxing Tuesday and a walk outside on Thursday. Not very high intensity, so I will have to work harder this week (especially after all the food I ate this weekend!)
First outdoor run of the season today. I ran outside with Emily on a 2 to 2.5 mile route. It felt pretty good to be outside. The lungs felt good. It reminded me how much more of an outdoor runner I am. I can do so much better outside than inside on the treadmill.
Marissa's birthday is tomorrow, so I'm not sure what exercise I can do. I'll have to sqeeze one in.

Getting there is half the battle
So I wasn't really feeling the gym today. It's been a rough week trying to get over the super bowl loss and lack of sleep. But, I made it there today and actually had a really good workout. I decided I was going to run as much as I could today, which was not the best feeling in the world the whole time, but I did it!
Heres the workout: 5 minutes warmup/walk (incline 1.0), 20 minutes running at a 6.2 (incline 1.0), 5 minute walk (incline 1.0), 7 minute run at a 6.0 (0 incline), 3 minute cooldown/walk (0 incline).
Total stats: 40 minutes, 3.5 miles, 450 calories
Pretty good workout, hoping that this past week has undone some of my bad weekend eating. Kaitlins birthday party is this weekend however, so I will have to endure more temptation!

Cardio Day
So my recent eating and drinnking binge did not go well on the scale this week. +3. Bob would not be happy. He would kill me in the gym with multiple last chance workouts.

Workout day in the gym today was a cardio day. The parking lot was full so I had to park down below. I read somewhere that big athletic events (olympics, super bowl) brings people back to the gym in force. Truly the case today. I hopped on the treadmill, one of the last ones left, and started my warm up. Soon after I started running, a smelly kid ruined my clean air! Why must the dirty, smelly people always find me? I did finish my run, while breathing as much clean air as possible. Final run stat: 35 minutes, 3.25 miles, 445 calories. Did a cool down on the elliptical for 10 minutes.
I did see Eric who tried to get me to workout with someone, but I was on my way out. One of these days I'm sure he'll get me. I'm just hoping I can squeeze some free sessions out of him!

Happy Birthday Kaitlin!
Super bowl hangover today. Good game, but sad about the Steelers loss. It was a good season and hopefully next year will be just as good!
Today is Kaitlin's 2nd birthday! Went over for cake. It was a rough eating weekend with my birthday, superbowl and now K's birthday. Lots of eating and drinking. We'll see how the scale feels about that tomorrow.
Last session with Eric today. It was with a group of women (2 around my age, and their mom and friend). However, it was not as scary as he made it out to be last week! When I got there, I hoped on the arc trainer for 15 minutes. I started doing abs before Eric decided to show up. We then started with TWO laps of lunges around the track. From here, it was an ab/pushup nightmare. We did leg lifts, scissors, 25 pushups, then went out and did 10 laps around the track. Back to abs/pushups, we did squats with a 20 pound weight (50), pushups, more squats, more pushups (this time with arm raises-15), more squats, and more pushups. We finished with 7 laps around the track to make the whole mile.
I may not be able to lift a pencil tomorrow...
I believe I'm doing a mini-triathlon in May however. My sisters on friend is doing one and wanted to know if we wanted to do it as well. Apparently, the swim part is in a pool. Now I just need to find a bike...oh, and get into killer shape!

Ugh, my body hurts already!
The fridge at work tends to freeze my carrots, but today it also froze the grapefruit I took with me. I had to wait an hour before I could eat it, and even then, it was still a little frozen. Grapefruit frozen is not very good.
So, back with Eric today. Its been a while! and was really dreading this meeting. It didn't seem too painful while going through the workout, but I currently can't feel my arms and my legs are a bit achy...this just 1 hour post workout! Heres what we did today:
I couldn't find Eric at the beginning so I hoped on the arc trainer (someone was on the stairmaster). After like 7 minutes, he found me and put me on the gyms new machine, a new row machine. It was pretty good, they have games that you play. I was playing darts. It was a little difficult at first, but I think I got the hang of it. I also did a bit of a race. We then moved on the meaty gym, which was pretty crowded today, with both sexes. The crowded was more on the lean side though, and not quite so meaty, so it wasn't bad. We did some arms at the beginning, then pounded the legs! At one point I was doing to the leg press and he started me out at 110 pounds, 10 reps and then he would lower the weight each time with me doing 10 reps. My legs were burning! I did a lap on the track on lunges, then did more legs and finished up with a mile on the track.
I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to move tomorrow! I also signed up to let Eric whip me into better shape on monday. It will be a group lesson with some girls, whom he mentioned were professional cheerleaders at one point. This should be interesting...

Sleet and freezing rain!
Kind of an ugly day today. Took a little while to get to work, not because of the weather, but because of the slow people driving! I swear, some people just shouldn't drive in bad weather. They are more dangerous than the roads when your going 10 miles per hour and forcing me to brake.
Spinning today with Yoga Andrea. I haven't gone to her in a while, mostly been with Janet, and it was a workout! She is harder than Janet, but her music selection today was pretty great, so it kept me going. Its kind of sad that she knows more current music than I do! We ran to 'bottoms up' and she talked about how she remembered how much she liked the song after watching ellen today and the people dancing to it.

She also played Rihannas new song, S&M, which she wasn't sure if she was too old for it. Felt pretty good after class today, it was a good workout. Also- there were 5 guys at class today! Thats definately a record!
Pens back on the ice tonight :)
