So I worked out three times last week in an attempt to get back into the workout habit. My goal this week is to up that to four. Hopefully next week, I can make it all five days.
I was able to get a run in Sunday, even with all the football on. Although, it was one tough run! I was so not into it. I did a hill workout for 35 minutes total. I walked a little more than usual and didn't run quite as hard. It all broke down to a total distance of 2.75 miles. Not my best showing, but it was something different.
Last night I did Monday spin class with Janet. It was one of the best classes I've had in a while, in terms of how I felt afterwards. It was just a good workout. We started off the class on a country kick, then moved to rap/pop music and finished with some old school 80s that I didn't know. She really switched it up with lots of running and sprints with a couple of jumps at the end.
I'm also back on the calorie counting, which has just shown me how much it works. I lost 2 pounds last week, and another 2 pounds at the weigh in this morning! Even though I usually only count during the week, it helps out a lot!
Rest day today, Eric tomorrow. Its been a while, I hope I can survive!!!

Pretzels = crack
Our office supplier always brings us large quantities of pretzels and if I start eating them, I can't stop. I don't know what they put in pretzels, but it should be illegal. Like, I'm so thirsty and I just keep eating the pretzels!
Lesson learned, if I don't go to the gym, I'm lazy and don't workout. I even organized my whole workout but I couldn't get off the couch, so I watched the pens game instead of working out. I did make it to the gym today, however. Saw Eric, who missed me (of course!). I told him I would be back again next week, don't worry.
Final stats of todays run: 41 minutes; 3.5 miles; 457 calories burned.

Busy spin day!
Back to spinning today with Janet. Huge range of music during the class. At one point she went from Creed (which I'm pretty sure is a religious group) to Britney Spears (which I'm pretty sure is the opposite of religious) with some others mixed in the middle. She announced the next song was black eyed peas at one point and I got excited, but it was 'where is the love' which is a good song, but not the tempo that I was looking for at that point.
Class was good today, every bike was filled with some newbies since my last class, which was before the new year. They displaced me from my normal bike so I had to sit on the other side of the room next to the one girl who is hard core. I like to be across from her so I can look at how fast she is pedaling during class. It was ok being next to her, but I'll try to regain my bike next week!
Thinking about doing an at home weight workout tomorrow. A mix of different Women's Health magazine workouts and some of my own.

And I'm back in the game!
So my sickness is almost gone and I'm around 90% (thanks to a couple of nights with 10+ hours of sleep this weekend) so I ventured to the gym this afternoon. My plan was to watch some of the football game while I was there, but the channel was on the other game and never got changed. I had to look at the TVs on the other side of the room to check on the game. No one would change it either! Where are the tall people when you need them? I did an interval run for 40 minutes, 2 minutes walk on a hill, 2 minutes run on flat. Final stat line: 41:20 minutes; 3.3 miles, 419 calories. Not bad for the first time back after a week+ off.
Signed up for spinning tomorrow, although I think I'm going to avoid Eric this week. Wait till I'm closer to 100% before I left him kill me again

Sick, sick, sick!
So I've been down with a sore throat since last week! I went to the doctor, but no strep, so nothing they could do about it. I have to suffer through it. Unfortunately, so does my gym routine. I haven't been to the gym since last Tuesday! Apparently my diet of chicken noodle soup and tea has been good though, because I lost a pound this week!
I am starting to feel like a human again that can do more than work 8 hours and come home to crash on the couch. My goal is to make my favorite sunday workout this week and get back to the a good gym routine. I hope Eric hasn't missed me too much!

2011 - Year of the Quitter?
So apparently people at my gym only had a goal to work out Mondays. Today, it was a little more crowded than usual, but not really anything bad. Not quite sure where everyone went to. I even went to the gym at 6 today, which is closer to the peak time. I have no idea what to expect tomorrow...
Eric day today. Lets call today butt and gutt day. Apparently I got there a little earlier, because he put me on the stairmaster for 20 minutes at the beginning, level 10, sprint workout. 20 minutes of the stairmaster is a great form of torture! I was definately struggling with this one. That extra 5 minutes was brutal. Next into the workout room, where did tons of abs. Started with the situps with a medicine ball, first throwing to Eric, then straight up in the air, aiming for my toes.

Next, up for some butts. Leg raises back, then leg kick backs (or the fire hydrant kick, as I like to call them). I also did a little jump rope in between in one minute intervals. Threw in some new workouts today. I knelt on the floor with a wheel platform/scooter in front of me. I would wheel out to be flat, then come back in. Overall, I think about 100 over the course of the workout. More crunches, then some push ups on a bench and the accordion workout.

More leg raises, squats, and finished up with the push ups on the bosu ball (and yes, I look like this)

Finally, did a cool down on the the elliptical for 12 minutes. It was quite the workout today!

The have taken over the gym!

So, my plan of avoiding the post work traffic at they gym only kind of worked. I got to the gym around 7 (after going to the mall and got a cute black and white tank, which I'll be wearing for a birthday party this weekend). It was cardio day, so I was planning on doing the treadmill. I got the very last treadmill, which was in the worst spot. I couldn't really see the TVs and the activity in the gym was away from me, making it harder to run, but I did it. Final stat line (with a 2 minute warmup): 30:30 minutes, 3.00 miles, 411 calories. I decided to do a cool down on the elliptical instead of continuing in my corner I was in. I did 10:30 minutes, distance 1 mile, and 158 calories.
Tracking the food started again today and I did a pretty good job of doing it. I even resisted the chocolates at work (which were delicious because I had one last year). Hoping to continue on the straight path!!!
Eric tomorrow at 6. Since he is a trainer, does that mean he gets to kick peope off machines? Lets hope.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful new years, I know mine was a little rough to recover from, but I'm doing much better today. Good think I had 2 days to recover this year!
I got the new years off to a good start this year (minus yesterday, which doesn't count). I went for a walk outside with Emily and Marissa in the afternoon. It was nice to get outside, although it was a little windy. I think the walk was somewhere around 2 miles. Then, I managed to drag my butt to the gym this evening and did a 2.5 mile treadmill. I did walk a little more than I noramlly do, but I also did some running at 6.4. Final stat line: 28:26 minutes, 2.5 miles, 308 calories.
I will say the Sunday night gym did not disappoint. Apparently everyones resolutions start tomorrow, so they do sunday night workouts. Bad news tomorrow though, spinning is full, which means I have to fight all the newbies for machines tomorrow. I will most likely be going in the evening and not right after work.
