The day after the big loss

alt

No more playoffs for the pens :( Sad loss, but it was a good season for them.  Better luck next year.  Now its time to route for the pirates to not loss most of their games.

Yesterday was a run day at the gym.  I ran 4.03 miles in 43 minutes and burned 495 calories.  It was a good run, but the gym was HOT!!!  I thought I was going to die soon after I started from lack of oxygen, but I made it through.  I had to use a treadmill in the second row because all the front ones were taken.  It was a further away view of the TVs, but not too bad.

Today I did some abs and then walked with Emily and my mom for about 45 minutes outside.  Easy workout day for me.

Week catch-up

With sunday being Easter, the gym was closed, so no Sunday Run day.  However, I did for my sister and mom to do the hills of our neighborhood for an evening walk.  It was good for the butt! and a great way to burn off some calories from the holiday.

Yesterday, I did a run on the treadmill.  Even though it was nice out, I thought it would be easier to do it on the treadmill.  I walked for 3 minutes, then ran for the next 37 and walked for 3 more.  Final stats: 4.2 miles, 43 minutes and somewhere around 520 calories.  It was a good run

Today I did kickboxing with Janet.  It was a good class.  She had an extra pair of handweights that I wore.  It really helped to feel it in your abs during class and my arms are feeling a bit sore now.  I will have to invest in some soon!

Its a hockey night....

Start of the playoffs!  So excited :)

Yesterday I did kickboxing with Janet.  It was good, more punching than the week before.  She said it was supposed to be harder than last week, but I disagree.  I told her I like the kicking better.  Killer abs at the end!

Today I did a run.  It wasn't the best run I've had, I was a bit tired, but I tried to run a little bit faster for a longer time.  Final stats:  38 minutes, 3.5 miles

Almost summer?

It almost seems like summer out...almost.  Its supposed to be in the 50s again tomorrow.  Summer will be here soon, I hope!

Today I walked the hills in the neighborhood today.  Its actually worse than the race yesterday, but it was a walk, not a run.  I then did some toning exercises (squats, abs, etc).  My butt may hurt tomorrow, but it will be well worth it :)  Trying to get fit for summer!

Race Day!!!

Today was Emily and I's second 5K.  We did one last October and she found one at a local college campus for their Relay for Life event.  The course was a bit difficult with more hills both up and down.  Overall, it was a good race.  There were a couple of little kids (like 10-12) who ran the race and finished around us.  It was very impressive!

Our time for the 5K:  31:06
Placed 70 and 71 out of around 150 people.  Middle of the pack :)

Oh, and the first place finisher did it in 17:56.  We were just a bit off the pace....

Run, Forrest, Run

Wednesday was a swim day.  It seems like we always swim when it rains (or ir always rains when we swim).  Neither Emily nor I were very motivated to swim a lot, but we managed to do a decent workout.  We started out with 4 laps kicking, then 4 laps in a light swim.  We then did 10 laps in a row (the triathalon is only 8 laps, so we went a little higher).  10 minutes of treading water and 8 more laps.  We finished with 4 more laps with a kickboard and called it a night.   Not a bad workout and at least we did something!

Today was a run day.  I actually had a great run.  Did a 3 minute warm-up, then ran for 32 minutes straight.  I ran at a 6.2 for most of the run and did 2 'sprints' in the middle.  One was at a 6.5 for 2 minutes, the other at a 7.0 for the last minute.  Finished with a 3 minute cool down.  Final Stats: 38 minutes, 3.61 miles, 476 calories.

DC for the weekend, hopefully lots of walking and not too bad on the food intake...

Double the fun!

So this week I doubled up on Janet workouts!  Yesterday, I did spinning with her and today I did kickboxing.

Spinning was good.  It was nice to FINALLY get a spot.  It seemed like the last couple of times I've called, they've been fun.  We did a lot of sprints and running, so it was a high energy, but I really enjoyed it.  My legs definately felt a little sore today.  I've been trying to work on my thighs, and I think my mind-muscle concentration worked! haha.

Kickboxing tonight was great.  It was a lot of combination moves which was a lot of fun.  There were a lot of newbies and it made it fun to watch them.  They messed up more than got the right moves, but they seemed to enjoy it.  The room was a bit crowded, but it worked well.  My shoulders will probably be sore tomorrow.  We ended with standing abs, which is always fun.  My hipflexers definately were sore after that!

Not sure about the workout tomorrow, I may run, we'll see.

March Madness!!

So my bracket is officially over after Pitt decided they weren't going to show up to their second round game.  Other than that, my bracket looks pretty good....

Big workout day today.  I love long Sunday workouts and they are even better once it starts to get warm out.  I did a run with Emily today.  We ran up to the one elementary school and met Kailtin, Riss, and Mike there to play for a bit.  Its about 1 to 1.5 miles each way, so it was a pretty good run with a little break in between.  It definately made me feel a bit more out of shape.  Running outside is different, plus this route has a bit more of an incline.

I then ate dinner (subway!) before my second workout at the gym.  Riss had tennis, so I went to workout while there.  I did the stairmaster for 15 minutes at a level 7, did some abs on the ab machine and a couple of leg lifts.  Then I did the rowing machine for 10 minutes.  I rowed 1500 meters, which I thought was pretty good.

I like to pretend I'm on the biggest loser when I do this machine.  I think Bob would be beside me yelling at me to row faster.  I finished the workout with a 15 minutes cool down on the eliptical.

Tomorrow is a spin day.  I finally got in; the past few times I've called its been full, so finally I got in!
