On my way to work this morning (in the snow), I heard the radio call New Year's resolutions as goals. I really liked that term better. They also talked about how much more likely you are to accomplish your goals when you write them down. Here are my goals for the year.
Long term goal: Lose 28 pounds to reach 150. I've been really bad about watching my weight lately. I have been eating recklessly for too long, even before the holidays. I need to get back to the food journal to make this happen. It has been my go to method for losing weight.
Shorter term goal: Lose 12 pounds by the end of March. Towards the end of summer last year, I was down around 165. I'd like to be back there before summer starts this year. Bathing suit ready starts now if I actually want to be bathing suit ready for the summer.
Running goal: I complete my longest race last year (8k) in a time that I was really happy about. I really want to run a 10k and maybe a half marathon toward the end of the summer. I want to become a marathon runner at some point in my life, and want to show myself I can do it each step of the way.
Other goal: Get my apartment organized! I moved in 6 months ago and still have things laying around. Once I get those things in order, my life will feel so much less cluttered!
Biggest loser tonight. One of the best shows on TV. I really like the motto of the season - no excuses. I still think they should just adapt the Dori 'Just keep swimming' phrase. Its something I always think about when I'm working out.
Gym workout day today is my least favorite of the week - toning. I did the arc trainer for 25 minutes at a level 5 on the pikes peak program. Hoping to tone my legs up, sometimes wish they had a stairmaster to switch it up every once and a while. I then did abs and some push ups/planks (I read today that the world record for holding plank is over 30 minutes, that kind of makes my 1 minute look pitiful. Guess I'll keep trying).
