Happy Jerzday!

Best day of the week!  haha, excited for the premiere tonight.

I didn't make the gym yesterday.  My Indian co-workers invited me over for real Indian food.  It was delicious!  But I didn't make it home till a little after 9, so no gym time.  Life gets in the way sometime, but doesn't mean you should ever quit!

Great gym day today.  It was a bit crowded, which suprised me a little.  I thought some new years people would drop out by Thursday.   I still found a treadmill to complete my cardio day.  I was enjoying the football previews for the weekend on TV today.  Got me pretty pumped for the games this weekend.

My workout: 2 minutes warm-up at 3.5; 20 minutes at a 6.3; 8 minutes at a 6.0; 5 minute walk at a 4.0; 5 minutes at 6.2; 5 minutes at a 6.0; 2 minute cool down.  I did minute sprints at 29 and 44.  Always good to push yourself at the end when you feel like you're going to die!

Final stats: 47 minutes; 4.51 miles; 630 calories

New Year's Goals

On my way to work this morning (in the snow), I heard the radio call New Year's resolutions as goals.  I really liked that term better.  They also talked about how much more likely you are to accomplish your goals when you write them down.  Here are my goals for the year.

Long term goal: Lose 28 pounds to reach 150.  I've been really bad about watching my weight lately.  I have been eating recklessly for too long, even before the holidays.  I need to get back to the food journal to make this happen.  It has been my go to method for losing weight.

Shorter term goal:  Lose 12 pounds by the end of March.  Towards the end of summer last year, I was down around 165.  I'd like to be back there before summer starts this year.  Bathing suit ready starts now if I actually want to be bathing suit ready for the summer.

Running goal:  I complete my longest race last year (8k) in a time that I was really happy about.  I really want to run a 10k and maybe a half marathon toward the end of the summer.  I want to become a marathon runner at some point in my life, and want to show myself I can do it each step of the way.

Other goal:  Get my apartment organized!  I moved in 6 months ago and still have things laying around.  Once I get those things in order, my life will feel so much less cluttered!

Biggest loser tonight.  One of the best shows on TV.  I really like the motto of the season - no excuses.  I still think they should just adapt the Dori 'Just keep swimming' phrase.  Its something I always think about when I'm working out.

Gym workout day today is my least favorite of the week - toning.  I did the arc trainer for 25 minutes at a level 5 on the pikes peak program.  Hoping to tone my legs up, sometimes wish they had a stairmaster to switch it up every once and a while.  I then did abs and some push ups/planks (I read today that the world record for holding plank is over 30 minutes, that kind of makes my 1 minute look pitiful.  Guess I'll keep trying).

St. Nick!

Most people don't know it, but it's St. Nicholas day.  My family has always celebrated this by putting your shoes out the night before and in the morning he leaves you a little gift in them.  I believe its Germany.  St. Nick forgot that I moved, but I got 2 new sports bras and a Christmas decoration.  Thanks St. Nick!

I dragged myself to the gym today.  I was so not in the mood, very tempted to turn right for home instead of left to the gym, but I forced myself to go because I will not be making it tomorrow.  I did 35 minutes on the treadmill.  I consider this a big win since I didn't even want to go.

Final stats: 38 minutes; 3.6 miles, 500 calories

TGI Thursday!

Ugh, working a 5 day week seems really long after working just 2 days last week!  Forever slow week!  So glad its Thursday and only 1 more day of work.  Christmas party tomorrow night and he usually lets us leave early before the party, so hopefully hes in a good mood tomorrow.

Great run today.  The gym was pretty empty today, which was a bit odd I thought.  We may be into the holiday season where people stop going to the gym, so it may be empty more often.  More treadmills for me!  I walked for 2 minutes to warm up, then ran at a 6.4 for 25 minutes, walked for 3 minutes, then ran for the last 15 before I finished with a 2 minute walk and stretch.

Final stats: 47 minutes, 4.54 miles, 646 calories

Makeover week!!!

So I'm a day behind, but its makeover week on biggest loser and I'm super excited!  Can't wait to see how they all look.  However, where is Tim Gunn??  Epic fail!!

Random day at the gym, started on the arc trainer and did 15 minutes.  I moved onto the arm machines and finished up the day with some abs and pushups.

Turkey Trot results

The turkey trot went really well!  There were a ton of people there, so it made the race much easier to run.  It was by far the biggest race I have ever run (distance and people).  I was so nervous before the race.  We got there about 8 and got our race packs, then watched the 1 mile fun run start.  As we waited in line for the bathroom, I finally started to calm down while talking to people who had run the race before.  It was a really flat course (love that about the south!) There were a total of 4,831  people who finished the 8k.  I finished in the 2,499 place.  My actual time was 47 minutes and 29 seconds for a mile pace of 9:54.  In my division (24-29F) I finished 177 out of 426.  Great time, can't wait for the next race and hopefully continue to add distance to my races.  10k up next!!!

Today at the gym, it was a cardio day (since I skipped the run yesterday).  It was a pretty good run, although someone smelled around me towards the beginning.  Must not have been very close because I only smelled it every once and a while.

Final stats: 47 mintes, 4.53 miles, 623 calories burned

Cram time!

Last day of workout before the big 8k on Thursday.  I was feeling really lazy and tired today, but I knew this was the last chance to get a run in before the race, so I forced myself to the gym after work.  It was an ok run, got the 3 miles in, only 2 more to get to the 8k.  Its within reach, just gotta make it to race day now!

Final stats: 35 minutes, 3.25 miles

Sid's back!

Its last minute training this week.  8k on Thursday!  I had a great run yesterday.  I meant to post the stats, but was distracted by the return of Sid today.

Sunday run - 48 minutes, 4.59 miles.  Made me think I can actually do this 8K.

Today I did a quick run in order to make it home for the game.  I got to the gym a little later, so I was in the back row of treadmills.  Not good for people watching or reading the TVs.  I made it through the run though.  Final stats - 35 minutes, 3.38 miles
